Katavi is noted for its Miombo Woodland and is home to roan, zebra, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and antelopes. The waterways are home to populations of hippos and crocodiles. Lakes Chala and Katavi are rich in bird life with over 400 species recorded.
Katavi is accessible by road, but most visitors fly in by private charter aircraft. A small, classic tented camp provides the only suitable guest accommodation in the Park.
