Kilimanjaro, now a famous world heritage site has out standing volcanic features that include mawenzi in the east, shira in the west and the snow capped kibo in the centre.

This mountain is a challenge for trekkers and mountaineers worldwide. Though Kilimanjaro's size is immense, its summit is surprisingly accessible to those who are in good physical condition.
Kilimanjaro's summit is capped with snow and glaciers year round. This allows climbers the unique opportunity to ascend from equatorial to arctic conditions in a matter of days. There are six separate trekking routes up the mountain, passing through five distinct ecological zones on the way to the summit: the lower slopes, the forest zone, the moorland, the high desert, and the summit.
The forests of the surrounding national park are in habited by elusive elephant, leopard, bushbuck, buffalo, a number of small antelopes and primates. These animals are however rarely seen due to the dense vegetation.
